BOOSTERS HELPING OFF THE FIELD
CONCESSIONS
The Boosters supply and help administrate all concession stands at every game at Ken Dukes Stadium, Richard Clevidence Gymnasium, Memorial Soccer Stadium, and the middle school athletic facilities. Through the work of the “Booster Squad”, a strong staff of special students at the Bowman House, each facility has their supplies restocked and ready for every event. During most games, concessions are staffed by volunteer from the team or by an MHS team fundraising for a future need.
SCHOLARSHIPS
Each school year, the Medina Athletic Boosters award a minimum of five (5) $1000 Ken Dukes Scholarships to some of the best senior student-athletes. Scholarships winners are chosen by a committee for their excellence on the field, in the classroom, and in the community. The Boosters also award a $1000 scholarship every year in honor of Sammy Gorfido ‘51, the ultimate Medina Booster. The winner of the Gorfido Scholarship embodies the spirit of the Battling Bees and the determination to overcome obstacles.
PARTNERSHIP WITH MHS SWARM
For the past several years, the Boosters have partnered with the Bees student section known as “the Swarm” to create a theme for every football game. During lunch periods in the days before Friday’s football game and during the contest, special tee shirts are sold to students and fans to follow the theme for the night. In just 2019, the Boosters sold over 3000 tee shirts at little or no profit to provide our students with a great experience.
SENIOR PROM
The Boosters use the proceeds from concession sales of up to $20,000 at Medina’s five home football games to help offset the cost of the Senior Prom. The MHS Junior Class provides all the student works on Friday nights during the football season in exchange for the Boosters annual payment to their prom efforts.
SEASONAL ATHLETIC PROGRAMS
During each of the three athletic seasons, the Medina Boosters publish a Sports Program featuring every team or band member playing in that particular season. Our generous sponsors are also featured to highlight their involvement in the Medina Athletic Program and many give fans the chance to save money at their business or win a prize at a specific event.
POSITIVE COACHING ALLIANCE
The Medina Athletic Boosters have partnered with the Medina Athletic Department and the Positive Coaching Alliance to help our student-athletes to be the best player and teammate they can be. For more on the Positive Coaching Alliance, click here.
Team travel
The Medina Athletic Boosters helps individual teams travel to the biggest tournaments in the area. Each spring, baseball travels to Florida during spring break. The boys and girls soccer teams travel to neighboring states to take on their state champions. Boys and Girls basketball go to team camps in the summer and has been traveling to Florida during the Winter Break to take on the best teams around. Often, coaches and their team parents raise the bulk of the money. The Boosters are here to help make these dreams come true.
DUAL DIGITAL MONITORS FOR WALL OF FAME
With the success of Medina Athletics over the years, many of our Battling Bees have earned their place in the Medina Wall of Fame in the main concourse of the high school. But space on the wall being at a premium, some older photos of our athletes have been moved to a pair of Digital Monitors to be preserved for all-time. The pictures can also be accessed on any digital platform for viewing.
OTHER PROJECTS
